Painting Max!

I’m sorry if I haven’t been able to provide everyone with updates on Max for the past days. I have been busy juggling work and my projects ( I’m brewing something new – will share it to everyone soon) that I had no time to write.

Back to our regular programming : )

After Max has been prepped for paint – time to find a way to paint all the fairings.

I hung the fairings in the pathway leading to our laundry area. This will allow the fairings to dry completely. If I don’t hang them – I risk placing finger prints or mishandling them after spraying on my paint.

Just make sure you have enough room to move around. (and warn your housemates of what your doing – the last thing you’d want is for them to get snagged in these)

Space them properly to make sure that they won’t bump into each other when you spray paint on them.

I am going to use rattle can paint for this project instead of using the compressor. I will use BOSNY paints as they are cheap (around 95 pesos) per can and they produce good results.. I have tried using Nippon but their nozzles get clogged easily. Pylox might be the best (and the most popular) but they cost around 130-150 per can – so Bosny it is! :)

Even though I’m using rattle cans – I won’t cut corners and spray black immediately. I sprayed on several coats of primer first to prepare the base. Afterwards, I will spray on several coats of black. TIP: Apply thick coats of your base coat – just enough to cover the primer. Make up for it in the clear coat :)

TIP:  It is important that you allow each coat to fully dry before spraying the next one when working with rattle can paints. I’ve tried to rush things in my earlier projects and for some reason, the paint hasn’t fully dried up even after several days – it still gets fingerprint marks when I touch it. Patience is a virtue.

I will show you how to assemble max together and how the paint job looks on my next post. (I hope to post this tomorrow night) ;)

P.S. I missed blogging! :)
